There are two engine choices available for the 2025 Ford Explorer: a standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque and an available 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Both options pair exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission, but the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 can get select-shift capabilities.
The 2025 Explorer is available now in one of four trim levels: the entry-level Active, the enhanced and sporty ST-Line, the high-performance ST, and the luxury-lined Platinum. These trim names and their focuses will be very familiar for returning fans of the Ford Explorer SUV, although the Active is a value-packed new addition that replaces the previous base trim (which was simply called "Explorer").
